Titel: Core 2 Duo cpu with Kanotix kernels
Installation of 2006-01-RC4 went well but during dist-upgrade using h2's scripts(thank you h2) I installed kernel 2.6.18-kanotix-2. Trying to boot using this kernel results in the following error message: "JMB361:dma_base is invalid", followed by:
"/bin/cat: /sys/block/sda/dev:no such file or directory", then a kernel panic.
Booting with the original kernel is still okay.
Any idea what might be wrong?

try to install 2.6.18.2-slh-smp-1, that's in the advanced kernel install options. I have no idea what could cause that error though.

I'm sure it had nothing to do with your scripts, but I will try installing another kernel. I notice, though, that according to the column to the left the kernel you suggest is not available; I am going to try the 2.6.18.2-slh64-smp-1 kernel instead.

slh64 or kanotix64 marked kernels are for 64 bit only.

By the time I got to init3 I realized that what I had planned to do made no sense. I tried kernel 2.6.18-slh-smp-1 as suggested but the result was the same - the system refuses to boot and produces the same error message.
