I don't know the specifics for the LG phone you have, but this is how I enabled bluetooth for my computer. I can do everything with my motorola v80 phone.
unfreeze-rc.d
rcconf (and check the bluez-utils box)
freeze-rc.d
reboot
Change /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf
security auto; -> security user;
pin_helper /usr/bin/bluez-pin; -> pin_helper /usr/lib/kdebluetooth/kbluepin;
class 0x3e0100; -> class 0xff0408;
sudo /etc/init.d/bluez-utils restart
run the server daemon: Internet -> kbluetoothd

Tip with cellphone and BT. Enable BT only in cases where needed. Otherwise turn BT off |

I've tried following Crust's how-to, and bluez-utils don't appear on my rcconf list, only bluetooth. Further, when I get to the "/etc/init.d/bluez-utils restart" it says "No such file or directory". When apt-getting though, I supposedly have the latest version of bluez-utils installed!
When I start Kbluetoothd it gives me a "Failed to connect to the sdp server" error.
I'm running Kanotix Easter preview, still waiting with the upgrade when the stable version comes out... |

Instead of bluez-utils, use bluetooth
Check the bluetooth box in rcconf (remember to unfreeze first and freeze afterwards)
/etc/init.d/bluetooth restart

I think I might have found out what the problem was. Rcconf doesn't let me save the selection. Next time I run it, Bluetooth is unchecked. Is there an alternative way to enable it? Right now I can to start kbluetoothd without errors, but with its icon always grayed out, not connected. |

you must do unfreeze-rc.d before you run rcconf in order to save the selections.

Of course I did the unfreeze, didn't I say I followed your instructions religiously? This is the first time I'm messing with this kind of stuff. |
