K3B launches without problems but when I try to burn anything to disk it fails with an I/O Error and that's all it says.
If I run it from a terminal I get this error -

Code:

find: /dev/.static: Permission denied

If I try running it with sudo I get this error in the terminal instead -

Code:

ERROR: Communication problem with k3b, it probably crashed

Again, it launches ok but I can't burn anything.

I haven't used k3b for quite a while so I can't say if it is something to do with recent upgrades or not.

with the last upgrades, the user has no permission to use k3b. workaround make user member of group burning and/or member of group k3b

Now, yu can change the k3b permissions via the KDE Controlmodule..
That should let you burn as user.

I've tried crearing a burning group and adding myself and also tried changing permissions via control centre but I still get -

Code:

find: /dev/.static: Permission denied

and I still can't burn anything.

you should do the groupadd as root not as a user, and do not forget to reboot. and do not do any group- or useradd while activated gshaddow with kUser.

Gshaddow, Shaddow-Password and Shaddow-User is activated by default.
