Titel: dvgrab fix and need passthrough help

Dear All,
I have been using dvgrab lately with some success after a needed workaround. I found by combing through forums that dvgrab may not work well with the newer kernels. There were some suggested fixes, but the one that worked for me with my kanotix (the one before easter-sorry do not remember the name right now ) is this: rmmod eth1394. After getting all firewire modules installed needed for dvgrab then I have to remove eth1394 and that is the only way I can use dvgrab.
With that fix I am able to use firewire and grab dv from my sony dcr90 camcorder. However, I cannot get it to work correctly using the passthrough on my camera that connects a vhs tape player. I have done it in mepis with dvgrab and kino about a year ago and I was easily able to do this with same computer ,same vhs tape player, and same camcorder. The distro was different as I mentioned, which was mepis. Now, I cannot get dvgrab to find a picture. It seems to get something but I get a gray screen with no sound for playback. Any suggestions here?
