          | My Control Center/Peripherals/Display shows only: 640x480, 800x600, 1280x1024. Missing screen resolution is 1024x768 How to fix this?
 I tried fix-res 1024x768 and got New Modes: "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" But then Control Center/Peripherals/Display still shows only: 640x480, 800x600, 1280x1024, even after a ^+alt+bksp

 glxinfo | grep direct
 direct rendering: No
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect

How can I get all 4 desired video modes? I think I have an intel i810 on-board video chip.

          | Is this a laptop screen or an external monitor? Please post /etc/X11/xorg.conf in a "code" box. |

          | For some reason you are using the fbdev driver (frame buffer device), which is needed only if there are compatibility issues. Did you boot the computer with cheat code "xmodule=fbdev" before you installed Kanotix to hd?
Let's see whether we can find a better driver: Boot off the Kanotix cd. This will generate a new config file. You'll find it at /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. Is there a difference compared to
 Code:

If the Kanotix cd doesn't boot to graphics mode, try cheat code "xmodule=vesa".
