I have a Canon i865. When I try to install it I get the message:The CUPS server could not be contacted. Trying to install it I get this outcome:

Code:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:

cupsys: Depends: libdbus-1-2 (>= 0.62) but it is not installable

E: Broken packages

root@KanotixBox:/home/xx# apt-get install libdbus-1-2

Reading package lists... Done

Building dependency tree... Done

Package libdbus-1-2 is not available, but is referred to by another package.

This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or

is only available from another source

E: Package libdbus-1-2 has no installation candidate

Thanks to the "Master" I now have the CUPs installed!

But I'm not able to find a proper driver for the i865. In another forum I read that the BJC 8500 omni driver worked, but that is not an option in my config. Canon is perhaps not especially linux-friendly. |

Well accoring to linuxprinting.org your printer does not work under Linux.

It's listed in the paperweight column 3rd printer down. |

Der Canon i865 läuft entweder mit Turboprint (kommerziell), oder besser mit den freien Treibern von hier:

http://mambo.kuhp.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~takushi/canon-pixus.html

Allerdings ist die Qualität nicht berauschend - ist wirklich ein "paper weight".

Greetings,

Chris

Sorry, was in hurry and wrote in German.

The Canon i865 works either with Turboprint (commercial), or even better with free drivers from:

http://mambo.kuhp.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~takushi/canon-pixus.html

However, the quality is not impressive - it's a real "paper weight".

Greetings,

Chris |

Hmm I must have been drinking when I replied to that post. I looked for info on the wrong printer. It seems your printer is listed in the 'Partially' column. |
