Titel: Can't install Nvidia driver

All pugins work well in freshly installed Firefox, but web surfing is slow, scrolling web pages is really annoying, on some pages (airnbn.com for example) Firefox gets blocked completely without response. It happens also in other Linux distros. However on the same PC the same Firefox works pretty well in Wibdows XP.
I think I should try to install Nvidia driver. I need a simple, clear and detailed step by step instruction for this. Any help?

| For FX 5500 you would need a very old Nvidia driver, it was only supported till driver 173.xx on Linux. But this does not work with Spitfire anymore. Disable KDE FX, this can help a bit. |

It's strange enough...
1. Is there any linux distro (previous versions of Kanotix?)which will support well NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 ?
2. Can you recommend another modest video card for Spitfire ?
3. And I do not know how to disable KDE FX ...

This is too old Driver and It shows many errors while Installation.

infobash -v
it is impossible to tell which driver is needed! |

If there is no other solution and the OP insists on this driver he must get it from Nvidia archive
and use the Nvidia installer -? |
