2.6.18-kanotix-4 has disppeared from the stable kernels directory. I haven't noticed any problems with it - are there any?

Is 2.6.18.1-rc1-slh-up-1 a step backwards as well? If so, why?

What does no-ide-support-can-break-things mean? Is this no IDE hard drive and CDrom support?

that -4 kernel was only up for a few hours.

Any rc labeled kernel is usually for testing purposes but sometimes slh considers them to be stable enough for being the current stable kernel.

2.6.18.1 is greater than 2.6.18 in the same way that 1.1 is greater than 1

can break things means don't use it unless you really know what you are doing
